Why we built this
Buying glasses online is cheaper and more convenient than ever — but you need your pupillary distance (PD) to do it, and that number is surprisingly hard to get. Many opticians leave it off your prescription, and the “free PD tools” from big glasses retailers usually want you to create an account, hand over your photo, and buy their frames. We thought measuring your own eyes should be simpler, more private, and free of strings.
Our three principles
1. Privacy-first & 100% on-device
Your camera image never leaves your device. All face and iris detection runs inside your browser — there is no upload, no backend, and nothing is stored. It's the opposite of handing your face to a retailer's servers. Read the details in our privacy policy.
2. Retailer-neutral
No email gate, no sign-up, no account, and no “buy glasses here” upsell. The result belongs to you, to take to any store you like.
3. Honest about accuracy
This is a measurement aid, not a medical device. We always show a confidence range (± mm), report multiple frames in camera mode, and tell you when a result looks shaky. For strong prescriptions, prism, children, or post-surgery, we point you to a licensed optician rather than pretending to replace one.
How it works
You can measure three ways: a guided webcam capture, a photo upload, or a fully offline printable ruler. A standard 85.60 mm ID card provides the scale that turns pixels into millimetres. Curious about the basics first? Start with what pupillary distance is and how to measure it.
